Perspective.

The past week, I’ve been extremely sick. I spent almost the entire week lying in bed, taking medicine, trying not to cough up a lung. When you’re sick like that, it’s easy to focus on how sick you are and how horrible you feel – and I did plenty of that, because every slight bit of sleep I got was interrupted with coughing. Then I had to make sure I took some of my medicine with food, but had to make sure the other medicine was taken on an empty stomach, along with cough syrup that made me dizzy. It’s been a rough week, to say the least – the worst of which was the night my temperature spiked to 102.9, and then the very next night to 103.5.  I felt like I was dying.

The point, though, is that even through all this miserable sick time, I am blessed.

I’m blessed to have a husband that took care of me the entire time, getting me medicine, food, and kept plenty of water beside me.

I’m blessed to have health insurance, so that I could concentrate on getting better instead of paying a huge medical bill.

I’m blessed to have the most comfortable bed in the world, and Internet access – Netflix was my best friend that week.

I’m blessed to have a beautiful, cozy house to cuddle up in and get better in, with plenty of blankets and pillows, and my cat and dog snuggled up with me for comfort.

I’m blessed and I’m grateful.

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and my beautiful husband bought me roses. We were going to take a little vacation to the mountains, but I was too sick, so he took me back to the doctor instead with no complaints – he just said he was happy we were together. I’m blessed to have a beautiful, happy marriage. I know how sappy it may be to some, but we tell each other we love each other several times a day at least, and we are truly best friends. I AM SO BLESSED.

I’m blessed for my friends and family that have been calling me and checking on me throughout this past week – Thank you so much for your caring and concern. It really helped when I was feeling low and sick, and going crazy from cabin fever.  I love you.
