Lists

I love lists. Something about them is comforting – the structure and order of them; the way they allow you to empty your head without worrying about forming a coherent sentence; the optimism I feel when I think about crossing things off that list (if it’s a to-do list, for example.)  I know I’ve already warned you that I can be a huge nerd when it comes to things like this, so I am sure it’s no surprise that I’m explaining my love of lists to you.  🙂 This blog post is going to be a blog post of lists, just because I love them.

I’m going to start with the negatives and end with the positives. Can’t leave you on a sour note, can I?  Of course not!

Let’s begin with a list of things that I HATE.  Many people say hate is too strong of a word, and if this is true, then I will say that these things make my stomach cramp up with annoyance and a feeling that some may describe as rage:

1. Popping of gum / Loud chewing of gum – If I were a school teacher, I would be the one that all the students HATED, because I would bring the full glory of my power down upon obnoxious gum-chewers. I can’t get over the rudeness and disgusting noise/visual scene these horrid gum poppers inflict upon society. They look like cows chewing hay, and to top that off, they then must add the loud sound effect to go with it??!?!??  I get upset just thinking about it. I must tell you, I have to deal with this nasty monstrosity on a daily basis… I have the willpower of a saint.

2.  Hot, sticky, humid weather. I hate it. I can’t breathe in it. I’m uncomfortable in it, and living in Columbia, SC does not help the matter. Thank God for my camera – I can stand any type of weather if I’m distracted by beautiful photography opportunities. 🙂

3.  Fake people. Enough said. Life’s too short.

Alright, alright – enough with the negativities…. now on to the fun stuff!  This is just going to be a list of random things I want to share with you that I’m excited about!

1.  I saw True Grit this weekend with Otman. EVERYONE must go to the theater and PAY to go see this movie!  AMAZING. The dialog, story line, acting, everything!!!!!!!!!  You would be doing yourself a great disservice to miss this movie. It blew my mind.

2.  I’m super excited about the new MacBook Pro laptops coming out soon! It’s a long story, but to sum it all up, my laptop broke, and I’m in the market for a new one. Thanks to the fine folks at Traveler’s Home Insurance, I am only paying a little out of pocket. They took great care of me!!!  You should really consider Traveler’s if you are shopping for homeowner’s insurance – just a tip.  The newest refresh of the MacBook Pro lineup is supposed to be coming out this Thursday, which is coincidentally (or not…probably not) Steve Jobs’s birthday.  I’m excited to make the switch. I will still be keeping my home computer Windows-based for now, so that I can still be the best of all worlds! 🙂

3.  Even though I hate hot weather, I have been LOVING this spring fling with the temperatures lately! I’ve had all the windows all over my house open, and it’s so nice to breathe in that fresh air. I’m hoping Otman and I can find the time to take Dexter to Charleston one of these weekends sometime before it gets too too hot.

4.  I’ve got some weddings coming up, and I’m super excited to be sharing such a special, beautiful day with my clients! Especially with my new camera and lenses!

5.  Otman and I are getting ready to clear out our master bedroom for painting and laying down wood flooring! That will make the entire downstairs of the house carpet-free! Oh what joy it is!

6.  I am finally starting to feel like myself again after being sick for two weeks… it feels great. I’m still coughing quite a bit, but I’ve got gym withdrawal, and I’m ready to hopefully get back in the saddle in the next few days.

7.  I’m slowly but surely clearing my house of extra junk/clutter that I’ve accumulated over my adult years, and it feels great! I will never be one of those people that can live with just a couch and a chair – I need comfort items, but there was just too much stuff and it felt like it was creeping to a point where it could take over. Right now, my garage is full of the stuff I’m discarding, but once we finish emptying the master bedroom and laying down the flooring, we’ll be able to gather everything together and donate it. Tax writeoff! Yay!  I will never get rid of anything that has intrinsic sentimental value – photos, special, meaningful gifts, etc. But certain things are just that – things. I work a full-time job, plus work on the blog and my photography, along with everything else that life involves, so don’t expect an overnight change, but as long as there’s progress, it doesn’t matter how slow it is, in my opinion. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my completely random blog post! Some days… you just have to let loose and be random.  Love you guys! Thank you for all of your support!

And just because blog posts don’t seem right without photos, here’s one for you to enjoy:
