Happy Birthday Daddy!

My dad’s birthday is today, and I just want to wish him the happiest day possible, with a fantastic year to follow.

I am extremely lucky and blessed to have him as a dad. He’s always worked hard to take care of his family and provide us with the best life possible, while at the same time making sure to teach us that nothing comes without hard work and sacrifice.

Here’s just a tiny, small sampling of why my dad is so awesome:

– He built custom bookcases and desks for my sister and me when we were kids that fit perfectly in the room we shared, and made sure the space was split evenly so we had enough room of our own. He even built our headboards himself.  Almost everything I know about building, I learned from him, because I would always hang out with him when he worked, and he always took the time to explain what he was doing and why.

– When I got my learner’s permit to drive, he had me change the tire on the car myself so that I would know how. He also taught me how to check the fluids and the oil.

– When he first started teaching me to drive, we got in the car and he just said “drive.” I was so nervous, and kept asking him where I should go, but he just sat there and was calm, and would give me tips and correct me when I was doing something wrong. He never tried to bark orders or give a lesson. He just let me drive around aimlessly and get the hang of it, become calm and relax. We ended up eating a really nice lunch at Fatz one of those days.

– He has spent our entire childhoods making sure we had great memories, and now he has spent years making sure those memories are preserved by scanning the thousands of slides and photographs into digital formats in order to keep them safe.

– He always knows how to be completely silly to make my mom laugh.

– He has always loved photography, which has caused photography to be a huge part of my life growing up, and is now my passion as an adult! He is an artist!

– He always came to our shows, plays, recitals, etc. He’s always been here for us.

– He’s the kind of guy that refuses to buy himself anything, but has no problem saying yes to his daughters if they need something.

I love you Daddy! Happy Birthday!!!!!
